Low Cal Recipe: Fraud Hummus Dip ;)

Good morning folks! I am back, this Monday morning, with a cheat of a hummus recipe to make it just as we like it – Low in calories. Hummus is traditionally made of chick peas and tahini (made out of soaked sesame seeds). Now, this ‘fraud hummus dip’ is so called because, I have replaced the tahini with just one tsp of soaked sesame seeds and one tsp of roasted nuts (ground nut, pine nut – pick your favorite). And, finally have added some ‘hung’ curd to give it the thick consistency. An easy-peasy recipe, this goes well with salad, bread sticks, garlic bread, plain toast or even a left over roti turned into a khakhra! Its all for you to explore!

A thank you to my friend, Teja Lele, who first gave me the idea of ‘hung curd + freshly ground mustard’ for a salad dressing or a dip.

You will need:

1 tsp roasted pine nuts/ground nuts
1 tsp sesame seeds soaked in a little warm water
1 cup hung curd
1/2 tsp mustard
salt to taste
1 tsp olive oil

– Blitz the roasted nuts and mustard in the grinder to make a fine powder. Add salt to this powder and blitz again.
– Now add the sesame seeds to this mix and give it a whirl.
– Add the oil to the curd and beat with a wire whisk to make it smooth. You can also use a hand blender here. Then add the nuts and sesame mixture to this curd mix and beat till smooth again.
– Serve in a small bowl and garnish with nuts or coriander or some paprika.

If you have more such recipes for dips and dressings, do mail them to me at amitagadre@gmail.com, and I will post them on this blog as your guest post.
